Our January Sundowner was preceded by a 30 minute presentation by Emma Hickerson, a marine researcher at the Flower Garden Banks and Jacqui Stanley who has been instrumental in bringing Houston’s first Ocean Guardian school to our city. Did you know that Australia and the US share some commonalities with their offshore reefs? Ningaloo Reef off the coast of NW Australia and the Flower Garden Banks National Marine Sanctuary in the Gulf of Mexico are two important sites that have a great deal in common.
